DFO (from Saturday night): “The Fred Phelps hate group have done two things that stink to the heavens: interrupted patriotic funerals with their nuttiness and given the Left wing another strawman to point to when it denounces Christianity. A lot of wrong can be done in the name of religion, both from the right side and the left side. Phelps and his ill-informed ilk are no more Christian than my dog. Indeed, this clan has a surprise awaiting them on the other side.”
DFO (follow-up): I didn’t equate hateful funeral crasher Fred Phelps with the Bush bashers at the Coretta Scott King funeral. Someone else made the comparison, as a follow-up. And I followed that up with a comment that the comparison was a “little over the top.” I stating this for the record because sometimes a blog thread is like one of those games in which a line of people are suppose to repeat a statement to one another — and what comes out one end isn’t what goes in at the other. BTW, for the Lefties here, you guys don’t have dibs on Coretta Scott King. Or her husband. They were two for the ages. And for all people of goodwill in this country, both Left and Right. To use her funeral to show disrespect for a sitting president, as Carter did, was shameful. You might see it otherwise. But I’d say most people not caught up in a hatred for Bush would see it as shameful.
