RBW: "Wonder if Managing Editor Gary Graham refers to former President Carter as James Earl."
DFO: Funny you should mention that. In our Editorial Board meeting today, we discussed the Chris/Christine name change. One of the Edit Boarders mentioned that Jimmy Carter might have been the first presidential candidate to go with his nickname rather than his given one. Jerry Ford, for example, was dubbed Gerald. Richard Nixon was known by his proper first name when he wasn't being called "Tricky Dick." Someday, there'll probably be a swing back to formality.
