MIK: Airport Board Dissed Pappy Boyington, Too

MIK: Just wondering...Where are all those brave Idahoans who screamed like a lynch mob and castigated a young woman student from the UW when she questioned whether a place of learning was the proper venue for honoring a war hero (Pappy Boyington). Talk show hosts tore her apart and ate her up. Newspapers pounced on her. She received threats of violence. She was devastated. Where is everyone now when the cause is legitimate? What better way to honor Pappy than by naming an airport for him. Bring it on! Unleash the talk show hosts on the airport board and the mayor. Get some newspaper coverage. Flex your muscles in the media. Demand some answers from the airport board since there appears to be no expense involved.

DFO: MIK is dead on. A sophomore student senator got ripped up one side and down the other by bloggers and talk-show hosts for opposing a proposal to honor Boyington on the campus of his alma mater, University of Washington. And here's the airport board of Boyington's old home town dissing Marine veterans and refusing to even consider a proposal to change the name of the airport. If anything, these guys are worse than the soph senator because they should know better. F'shame.
