Extra! Kirkpatrick To Become 1st Spokane Cop Chief

Federal Way Police Chief Anne E. Kirkpatrick soon will be Spokane’s next police chief, marking the first time in the city’s history that a woman will lead the department. Mayor Dennis Hession will make the announcement this morning at a City Hall news conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Kirkpatrick, 46, is expected to be there. A lawyer who also holds degrees in business administration and counseling, Kirkpatrick was not in her Federal Way office this morning, an administrative assistant at the Federal Way Police Department said. The two remaining out-of-town candidates were in their offices, and the only internal candidate, Deputy Spokane Police Chief Bruce Roberts, reportedly has been informed that Hession will be choosing someone else here/Spokesman-Review.

DFO: She certainly doesn’t have big shoes to fill.
