4:05 p.m., From CDAMom: "Hurray -- DFO is requiring the huckleberries bloggers to engage in non-derogatory behavior! Unfortunately, I think the internet is the cause of some of the problems. Most people would not engage in this type of bad behavior in person, but for some reason it is ok when it is here. Thanks DFO." DFO: You're most welcome.
3:34 p.m., SR colleague Chris Rodkey has narrowed the list of prospective names for his new kitten down to eight: Jersey, Loaf, Barnacle, Beetle, Snowflake, Oatmeal, Pickles, and Pocket. In doing so, he eschewed my clever suggestion of Copy, which plays off the yell that once sounded in newsroom when a reporter was done with his copy. But you still can help Chris decide on the best of the eight by voting here.
2:05 p.m., Bayview Herb awards HBO his first Herb Huseland Excellence In Blog Control Award in place of the runnerup Herb Caen Award I didn't win this year. I humbly accepted on behalf of myself, Blogmeisters KenP and KenS, and all the SR online wizards.
1:55 p.m., Sam The Intern tried to get some of those Superhero stamps at the Coeur d'Alene post office today, only to be told that they wouldn't be available in North Idaho until Monday. Alas.
12:47 p.m., I noticed that several of you have mentioned using the SR CDA office as a dropoff point for formula to help the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery through its current crisis. I shoulda said something to Any Mouse when he first proposed the idea yesterday. I don't mind. But I have to clear it with Editor Steve Smith. Stay tuned ...
10:55 a.m., Just got the OK from higher-ups that I can use cartoonists Michael Ramirez (above) and Scott Stantis here at Huckleberries Online. HBO is seeking permission from other cartoonists that we purchase for the print edition. I'd love to have Signe Wilkinson work, too. BTW, always ask permission before you use someone's work in toto on your blog or for a comment post here.
10:48 a.m., Wanna know why participants are so happy at Wallace's Crazy Days (today and Friday)? Consider the news release from the Wallace merchants: "Get free tokes from merchants to play the games located on the sidewalks & win Wallace Script good for spending at participating Wallace Merchants." One toke over the line ...
9:15 a.m., Editor Steve Smith dropped by the office today to chat about the new, improved Huckleberries weekdaily column. He's happy with it. I'm happy with it. Some of the good stuff (Amber Deahn getting stiffed by Denny's today; golfer Rich Beem tipping a caddy $500 last week) will soon appear all editions.
