OfCoffee: HBO Criticism of Douglas Flat Wrong

OfCoffee: Looks like the criticism that we gave our prosecutor on this blog was flat wrong. It wasn't a case of "ego" at all - apparently he had a deal in the works that is the best of both worlds i.e. Duncan gets a death penalty and Shasta is protected. This is another case where we should hold our attacks until we are sure we know the whole story.

DFO: Prosecutor Bill Douglas certainly pulled a rabbit out of the hat with this plea-bargain deal. And he deserves to be commended for that. However, the public pressure applied on Huckleberries Online, as well as the two newspapers, wasn't a bad thing. He knew, in no uncertain terms, that the community wanted a plea deal. Not the trial. Douglas has a monster public relations problem in this community due to the still-unresolved controversy related to the Kalani flap of last year. As a result, the public wondered if he was up to the task of dealing with a major crime case like this one. Seems he was. This time. Fortunately.
