More Info: Deedie Beard, Kootenai County's election manager, said about 5,000 requested ballots have been mailed out to voters. Another 500 voters have already walked into the county election office to cast their ballot. "About 2,500 people (total) have voted already," Beard said. "Absentee voting is much higher than normal for a non-presidential year. I'm surprised. It shows people are very interested in this election."
