Question of the Day — Lengthy Movies
Issue (from Ryli for the UI Argonaut "Off The Cuff" column): "I can’t stand going to the movies anymore because everything I see is far too long. Why does every filmmaker think they need two-and-a-half hours to get their point across? I blame Peter Jackson. That hobbit-loving nerd ruined movies for me. I mean, whatever happened to the 90-minute movie? Seriously people, if you don’t have anything to say don’t try to stretch it out to three hours."
DFO: The last "Lord of the Rings" episode went a half hour too long. It shoulda stopped when Aragorn said to the masses after the destruction of Mordor that a Hobbit bows to no one. "King Kong" went on an hour too long. But the special effects were still cool. I can't remember if "Pirates" 2 went too long. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I guess it depends on the movie.
Question: Are movies too long nowadays?
