TGIF Wild Card — 8/3/07

I watched the 90-minute Big Band concert last night at the amphitheater at Riverstone Park, along with several hundred others. Spectacular evening. Beautiful weather. Viewtiful setting, with geese rising and settling on the water and the water features of John Stone's pond providing soothing background noise between sets. Some danced. All enjoyed. I had two thoughts as I relaxed on the grass: My quality of life has been improved by this pond. And I'd like to see when of the CAVE men or women at the microphone in that setting trying to explain why the urban renewal district and tax increment financing are bad things. I was also struck by the thought that my view of the pond, water features, ducks and the lights of an emerging economic section of town was more impressive than a glimpse of the river that you can get around the bend at Mill River Park. Sorry, Watcher. Now, for your Wild Card ...
