Boyington Supporters Finally Win Key Vote 2-0-1

Item: CdA airport renamed for 'Pappy': Commission approves naming county airfield for famed WWII pilot/Erica Curless, Spokesman-Review

Huckleberries Online regulars were out in force for the Boyington discussion. Here, Kerri Thoreson/OnLocation North Idaho (left), Alice Rankin/Alice's Garden Spot (middle right) and Dan of the County (behind Alice) listen to Marine League rep Rick Seward support the name change.

More Info: Commissioners Todd Tondee and Rich Piazza voted for the proposal, which was pushed by local Marine veterans. They said Boyington was a "hero's hero," and that his name could spark an interest in history and the veterans who fought for their country. "He's a reason why we're not speaking Japanese or German today," Piazza said. Commission Chairman Rick Currie's continued his long-standing opposition, but he abstained instead of voting.

Question: Will Currie's abstention and lack of support for the name change come back to haunt him in the GOPrimary next spring?
