Alice’s Garden Spot — Fair Time Is Almost Here

It seems as though our North Idaho County Fair comes at a time when some of our prize-winning vegetables, flowers, fruits and berries are past prime to win that big blue ribbon or sweepstakes award. Or else it is too early for other award winning entries to have matured. It is our job this week to tour our gardens and make mental notes on what we do have that will be available for a possible entry on August 20 and 21. You have all been sweating over your gardens for several months now, so check out your best and let all of us enjoy it at the Fair. Incidentally, while years ago it used to be the Kootenai County Fair, now residents of not only Kootenai, but also Benewah, Shoshone, Boundary and Bonner counties are able to enter exhibits. — Alice Rankin/Alice’s Garden Spot.
