Christie: No Reason To Look Beyond Hazel

Eagle Eye I just got off the phone with Maureen from the CDA Press. This is the first I have learned of any negative comments about our intention to offer the position to Hazel. It should not surprise you that I do not agree with you. This Board has had the advantage of working directly with Hazel for many years. You elect us to make decisions on behalf of the patrons. With the working knowlege we have of Hazel Bauman we are unanimous in our decision to support her as our next superintendent. I have been through several search processes in my career. (School Superintendent, NIC College President, Chief of Police). There have been times when it was warrented to open up a position to a major search outside of the entity, and times when it was not but it was done anyway to apease people. It is a very expensive process and should only be done if nescessary. Our belief is we have solid leadership in Hazel. Superintendent Amend agrees with us and has given unwavering support to her.
