Alice Rankin: Shh … Library Almost Perfect

Full comment here

I was able to take my maiden tour of the new Coeur d'Alene Library this week. It was as wonderful and full of splendor as I thought it was going to be. It is located in my former "neck of the woods", of Ninth and Sherman, where my family lived for nine years when first moving to Coeur d'Alene. So it was somewhat of a shock to the senses to "all of a sudden" come upon this big modern building right at the end of Seventh Street. From all the descriptions and pictures in the newspapers, I had expected to have to go upstairs to the Terrace. So imagine my surprise to see the stairs going down when I came in the main entrance from the street level parking lot. And the elevator had only a down button. So I had to get my bearings for a moment before I realized that the lower level is called the Parkside Level and the main level is the Terrace Level. That makes me happy, as I will be using the main level mostly, and won't have need of the stairs or elevator/Alice Rankin.

Question: Alice goes on to say that she has one complaint about the library. It's too noisy. For some reason, people talk openly without trying to hold their voices down. Have you noticed that, too?
