Eye On Boise: Legislature Adjourns
With handshakes and hugs all around, the Senate adjourned sine die at 6:13 p.m. Boise time. Adjournment followed nearly two hours of farewell speeches, including comments from Sen. Clint Stennett, D-Ketchum, who told the Senate, “Y’know, brain surgery was easy. I came back here 10 days later and was happy to be relieved of the pressure on my brain.” Stennett missed only a short bit of the session to undergo surgery for brain cancer, and then was back on the job/Betsy Russell, SR Eye On Boise. DFO: On the surface, I believe North Idaho legislators had a lousy session in Boise this year, particularly our House members. They followed leadership like sheep in the unanimous vote to hamstring government in passing local-option taxes. Luckily the bill was killed by one vote in the Senate today. I need to review various votes this session. But I'm glad the session is adjourned before the solons could create more mischief.
