Hall: Montezuma Avenged Himself On Me

I was also taught some Mexican history the hard way by experiencing the vengeful tendencies of Montezuma II. He was the Aztec ruler when the Spanish began their conquest of Mexico and it made him cranky. Today, he is given the blame for several forms of gastric turmoil that afflict visitors to Mexico. It is said that the common torment of tourists known as Montezuma's revenge is his payback to the Spanish invaders and perhaps to others who have done Mexico wrong. My own theory - born of personal experience - is that the old boy is roughest of all on his victims from the United States, probably because we ripped off Texas, California, Nevada and Utah from Mexico, along with parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming/Bill Hall, Lewiston Tribune. More here.

Question: Have you ever suffered Montezuma's revenge while visiting Mexico?
