Lawmakers More Sophisticated, But …

was asked a great question the other day. Roughly paraphrased, do I think Idaho has a better class of state legislators than it had 20 or so years ago? I didn't have a quick answer at the time. I'm not sure I have a good answer now. But it's too good a question to let pass without some rumination. On balance, I think lawmakers are more sophisticated than they were in the mid-1980s, when I first started covering Idaho politics. But I also think lawmakers are less inclined to build common-sense consensus/Kevin Richert, Idaho Statesman. More here.

Question: How would you compare today's Idaho lawmakers to those of years gone by?
