‘Hagadone House’ Still Causing Desert Stink

For some months now, Nelson has been trying to get a home built on that hillside. He has owned the property since 2002. He had not broken ground on any construction when in 2007, the council amended the city's hillside zoning ordinance to prohibit construction on ridges. The change was prompted by what is now known as the Hagadone house. The 32,000-square-foot mansion was built at the Bighorn Golf Club by Duane B. Hagadone, an Idaho real estate and media magnate. During its construction residents at Ironwood Country Club complained about the home's size and it's impact on surrounding views. Nelson addressed the Hagadone home during the meeting, saying it was not the same kind of project. "Comparing this to Hagadone is like comparing apples to an apple orchard," Nelson told the council. "This home is just not to the same scope." But the council was unmoved/Desert Sun. More here.
