A man who shot a horse near DeSmet won’t be fined for killing the stallion with a shotgun slug. Charges against Chad Chittenden were dropped after witnesses verified that the horse he killed last month was a public nuisance, according to the Benewah County Prosecutor’s Office. “I got letters and phone calls from a host of neighbors complaining that this horse was loose and dangerous,” said Benewah County Prosecuting Attorney Doug Payne. “I had a stack of them”/Ralph Bartholdt, St. Maries Gazette-Record.
