Smith: No Plans To Cut Staff
A Little Birdie: I would like to know if it's true that the Spokesman is preparing for another round of layoffs. Dave, could you please address this or have Editor Steve Smith address this.
Steve Smith: We have been asked to continue to control costs. we have cut our newshole (the amount of space devoted to news). we are always looking at other cost controls. I have told the staff that workforce reductions may be necessary in the future. but there are no plans currently to reduce staff.
