Huckleberries Online

Wild Card/Sunday -- 3/2/08

I've almost finished reading David Guterson's "Snow Falling on Cedars," one of the targets of parents' protests in the Coeur d'Alene School District this winter. Two thoughts: It's a superbly written book that views the prejudice against Japanese on a small island north of the Puget Sound during and shortly after World War II. It also has enough sex tossed in the mix that I'd give it an "R" rating if it was a movie. Mebbe suitable as required reading for older high school teens and younger ones with parental permission. But questionable as required reading for younger ones. I read Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes" a coupla weeks ago. Both are good reads. How about you? What books are you currently reading. You can answer that question or use this Wild Card to start your own thread ...
