2 Teens Caught After High-Speed Chase
A high-speed chase involving a vehicle stolen in Whitefish, Mont., ended with two under-age teens in jail. Bonners Ferry police spotted the 2007 Chevy pickup on Highway 95 after authorities were alerted by an OnStar tracking device that the vehicle was in the area. That started a chase that reach speeds of 95 mph. The pickup, with a 15-year-old male at the wheel, continued south on Highway 95 at 80 mph into Ponderay even after one front tire was deflated by a spike strip at Upper Pack River Road. The pickup came to a stop at 5th Avenue and Larch Street in Sandpoint after two more tires were blown out by a spike strip. The boy and a 17-year-old girl were taken into custody and charged with eluding and felony possession of a stolen vehicle.
