Item: Coeur d’Alene School District expects high election turnout: Absentee ballots double for $31.1 plant facilities levy/Marc Stewart, Coeur d’Alene Press
Press Urges Yes Vote: Critics are justified in being upset that the district did not do what it said it would do when voters approved a levy in 2002. A key part of that program was renovating Lakes Middle School. When costs escalated, district officials used some of the Lakes money for other work, leaving the middle school without improvements. What was then a planned $7.8 million project has ballooned, six years later, into one that is expected to cost more than $24 million. District taxpayers have every right to be upset. So what we’ll do is punish the kids? That’s not logical, and it’s not in the best interest of our community.
Question: How will you vote on the $31.1M levy Tuesday?
