TGIF Wild Card — 5/23/08

We’ve reached closing time on Friday before a three-day Memorial Day weekend. I doubt that I’ll visit the local cemeteries on Memorial Day. But I do visit on other days, particularly when I walk home after work. I enjoy walking among the tombstones, reading inscriptions. It’s peaceful. I’ve visited the late Ron Rankin’s grave by the Civil War soldier more than once. I once found a Snickers bar stuffed in a greeting card on a grave. I can only imagine the story behind that gesture. Anyway, I’ll continue to play this Wild Card as I try to figure out what I’m going to do with a three-day weekend before Election Day …
