Kyra Wine Battery Defendants Waive Hearing
Both defendants in a St. Maries child abuse case plan to waive the preliminary hearing that was scheduled to take place today at 2 p.m. in Benewah County District Court, attorneys said. Charles William Smith, 29, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated battery. He was scheduled to appear with Christina Haynes, 26, who faces the same felony charges. Haynes' daughter, 3-year-old Kyra Wine, was found in her mother's house June 18 with dead flesh covering parts of her hands and feet, bruises covering her body and much of her hair missing/SR.
