OC: Will Flags Be Lowered For Craig?
OfCoffee: The POTUS has ordered flags at half mast across the country to honor Kennedy. 
Many on this blog agree with that. When Larry Craig passes away, I assume that they will agree that the POTUS should order flags at half mast for Larry? Kennedy's faux paus was at the beginning of his career. Larry's was at the end. But Kennedy's was a far worse infraction. Is it all just a matter of timing? Is it best to die when the POTUS is in the same party as you? Should we just expect that liberal career politicians will get better posthumous treatment in the media than conservatives? (These are just rhetorical questions.) Full post below.

What timing. I was going to post this question about Larry even before you pointed out this day in history.
I was listening to NPR on my way home yesterday and they were interviewing residents of Mass. regarding Kennedy's passing. The comments were all about what a great man he was, but most also contained some clause about “he made mistakes”, “he had his faults”, “he wasn't perfect” etc. I think it's pretty clear the were referring to Chappaquidik. (sp?) However, the overall feeling was that his service outweighed his blunder.
Now, let's compare: Kennedy as a commited public servant (you have to admit this, regardless of your political views) with many years of public service and was well like by the majority of Mass-ites.
Kennedy (allegedly) committed manslaughter and then tried to cover it up, and got away with it.
Larry Craig, had 27 years of exemplary service to the state of Idaho. (you have to admit this, regardless of your political views). He was an excellent senator and was well like by the majority of Idahoans.
Larry Craig (allegedly) hit on an undercover cop for sex.
