Dogwalk: Tiger Rumors Break Heart

As publicity seekers of the female persuasion are beginning to sleaze their way out of the woodwork to claim an affair with Tiger, I’m saddened. Not because I believe a single one of them, but because where there is smoke their is usually something smoldering. If any of it is true, my heart is broken. If not, the damage has been done by false claims. The salacious will win out no matter what. It makes one ponder if men of power or celebrity will ever learn that they can’t have their cake and eat it too. Even if innocent of anything, there are those waiting in the wings who will jump on the band wagon for their fifteen minutes. It’s the bane of being famous/Dogwalk Musings. More here.

Question: Do the rumors circulating about golfing great Tiger Woods sadden you?

I’m saddened to see any marriage in trouble. Famous, or not.

I cringe when I hear rumours of infidelity among friends or acquaintances. It’s just sad.

Not one bit. Poor baby. I am not jumping on any bandwagon, but I never feel bad for celebrities and their woes.

  • hmoffsuite on December 01 at 3:43 p.m.

Sadden me? Not nearly as much as when it was Bill Clinton.

  • JeanieSpokane on December 01 at 3:46 p.m.

I am saddened when it happens to my friends. Not so much sympathy for celebrities - I tend to ignore their exploits.

  • fortboise on December 01 at 3:56 p.m.

I’m able to keep my emotional distance.

How did we get from “he had a car accident” to “he must be sleeping around”? Amazing.

I was in a car accident years ago, and I wasn’t cheating on anyone. Of course, I’m not famous. Maybe if you’re famous and have a car accident, you are unfaithful.

It’s hard to imagine how little I care about Tiger Wood.

Here is the greatest professional athlete quote ever: “I’m not a role model… Just because I dunk a basketball doesn’t mean I should raise your kids.”

  • Stickman on December 01 at 4:22 p.m.

Thanks spokelooneh: I tried to come up with the words, but you hit the little ball on the head, so to speak.

No, monogomy is special because it is hard. We are not swans, I don’t beleive that we are naturally inclined for one sex partner, hence all the need for societal reinforcements to encouage mono-pairing. So seeing an affair is not shocking.

Charlie: What do you want each night? Let me know, and I will try my best to make your night worthwhile.

  • Cindy_H on December 01 at 5:49 p.m.

    “We are not swans”
Hmm… so Idawa, is your point we aren’t animals? Or that we are— just not birds?

I could care less about the marital difficulties of the rich and famous. Seems to me their infidelities are a product of entitlement.
Perhaps that’s the crux of all extra-marital sex, or is that too simplistic?

  • Cindy_H on December 01 at 6:35 p.m.

Nic, is your point that porn consumption=cheaters?
    Interesting.

  • Cindy_H on December 01 at 6:56 p.m.

Which excuses cheating? Careful, there nic :-)

  • Charlie on December 01 at 9:07 p.m.

Stickman, your posts are always sincere and to the point. I, like the rest of the HBO gang enjoy your logic. Sometimes my logic gets caught up in traffic and gets broadsided.

  • JohnA on December 01 at 9:54 p.m.

Gosh, so much coming out now (pardon the expression) about Tiger Woods. I mean. excess porn viewing, new women with video…

Where was everybody last week? Did someone open a creep vault and Tiger’s life came pouring out? I’ve always understood the kick-em-when-they’re-down paradigm because it enriches those who do it to those they are kicking, somehow elevating a common person above that of the revered.

But, this seems nuts to me. Why no mention before of any trysts, sexual deviancy, etc, until just now?

    Odd, to say the least.

    DFO,
Am I losing my mind or did you erase Nic’s comment and my counter comment?
    Could be my sleep deprivation.

  • Cindy_H on December 02 at 9:31 a.m.

JimmyMac, looks like he did and I had a very interesting conversation with myself last night :-) Ha!

  • keithincda on December 02 at 9:53 a.m.

So now HBO posters can toss slanderous accusations about someone (celebrity or not) and call DFO to get them deleted after they have hit the send button? Wow that’s nice. At least for Nic.

  • DFO on December 02 at 9:55 a.m.

@ KeithinCDA re: “So now HBO posters can toss slanderous accusations about someone (celebrity or not) and call DFO to get them deleted after they have hit the send button?”

I’ve always respected the right of a commenter to have second thoughts re: a post — and request that it be deleted. And I’ll continue to do so — for Nic or anyone else.

  • JIMMYMAC on December 02 at 11:12 a.m.

No prob on my end, DFO, was just looking for clarification. CIndy, the blog does some pretty crazy things to one’s psyche, that’s for sure.

Glad to see that NIC had second thoughts on his post. I’m hopeful that his incentive was based on humility rather than protection, but glad to see it deleted nonetheless.

  • Cindy_H on December 02 at 12:13 p.m.

I just want to know if that’s retroactive.
‘Cause I’m pretty sure there’s some stuff in those archives, I wish I could take back.
You know, what with Phaedrus and his scary recall abilities.

  • nic on December 02 at 12:17 p.m.

    @ Jimmy…

It was 2nd thoughts… Dave deleted another comment (probably before you had a chance to read it) in response to the missing comment of yours. You brought up a good point about privacy. No need for protection - I’ve got proof of it. But it doesn’t need to be dragged out here.

  • keithincda on December 02 at 7:18 p.m.

Nic, if you have proof of it why worry? Privacy? Hah! it’s the internet dude there is no privacy. But you and DFO are doing a good job of CYA.

  • DFO on December 02 at 7:29 p.m.

Give it a rest, Keith. Now.

  • Phaedrus on December 02 at 8:39 p.m.

I’m pretty sure there’s some stuff in those archives, I wish I could take back.—CindyH

    too late. ;-)
