Item: Mike Huckabee defends freeing convict wanted in Washington police shootings: His commutation of Maurice Clemmons may hurt the former Arkansas governor’s political aspirations/Los Angeles Times
More Info: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee broke his silence Monday and defended his decision to support freedom for a convict (suspected) in the ambush slayings of four Seattle-area police officers. “If I could have known nine years ago that this guy was capable of something of this magnitude, obviously I would never have granted the commutation,” Huckabee said. But even those sympathetic to the former governor suggested that the case of Maurice Clemmons would most likely hurt Huckabee’s candidacy should he seek the White House again in 2012.
Question: What impact will the commutation of Maurice Clemmons’ sentence have on Huckabee’s political aspirations?

Since nobody has a magic ball it is somewhat unfair to hang this around Huckabee’s neck, but if he runs for the GOP nomination his fellow Republicans will use this to beat him like a drum. Willie Horton, anyone?

Huck freed THREE TIMES as many convicts than his predecessors did.
His potential presidential run is on life support.

Looks like Huckabee’s ointment has been contaminated by a fly.
