I found it hard to hold back tears every time I watched another news story regarding the Question: In the wake of the mass murder at Fort Hood and the senseless slaughter of the Lakewood police officers, how do you avoid becoming hardened to such news? Or do you?
senseless murders of the four Lakewood, Wash., police officers. With all the horrific things that we hear about and watch every day on the news, it would seem that we’d get hardened. Fortunately, we don’t. This brutal mass murder of innocents pierced the hearts of everyone in the Northwest. … At this point, all I’ve got to say is bless these officers’ families and bless all of our law enforcement who go through each day never knowing what horrors they’ll face even in the next second or in the most unlikely setting. Like the military, our police officers deserve our gratitude more than ever after this monstrous crime/Marianne Love, Slight Detour. More here.

Anymore, things like this make me wonder When We Will Ever Learn, and Why these things continue to happen. Don’t we know any better? Is there that much derangement in our society? Haven’t we ever learned right from wrong? Do we have to look at every other human being and wonder if it’s this person, or that person that could possibly murder us? It keeps happening over and over. Read all the history books; it happened ‘back then’, it’s happening now, and looks like it’ll always happen. Sometimes I just wanna hide from the human race and go hide under a rock somewhere.

From time to time I have to tune out any and all news stories that involve violence.
I think it’s about time for that again. Ignore them until at least after Christmas.
