San Diego coach Bill Grier felt nearly powerless as he watched Washington State sophomore forward Klay Thompson score 43 points on his Toreros in the championship game of the Great Alaska Shootout. “If you watched the game, it didn’t look like we guarded him at all,” Grier said of Thompson, who had 31 points in the second half as WSU won, 93-56, Saturday. “We had no answer for him. We just don’t have any wings with his size. Even if we had a guy draped on him, it was like we weren’t there.” Thompson leads the Cougars (6-0) against 17th-ranked Gonzaga (5-1) tonight at 6 at the McCarthey Athletic Center/Jim Meehan, SR. Question: Prediction?

Thompson has to be held to a human # of points, not attain the superhuman level he has been playing. Harris has to have a good game. If both pan out, GU by 6-8.
currently 37 WSU, 23 GU.

I wish the paper would show jersey numbers in the box scores. With all of the new players, and just numbers on the jerseys. I have a problem identifying players. I noted toward the end of the game, a number 13 for the Zags that looked just old enough to play high school jv. Her looked sharp, but I couldn’t figure out who he was.

Thanks, but well it was actually a five point victory, but I was close. Didn’t think GU would be that beat down in the first half. Looks like this is an often come from behind victory team, which is definitely interesting but stomach churning.
