A couple weeks ago I was running late for a meeting at Tapio Center in Spokane. Imagine my dismay when I ran into roadwork, and had to take a detour. Except it wasn’t really a detour— the road was just closed. I ended up lost on East Sprague. Not fun.
Yesterday, it happened again! Another meeting at the same place. This time I planned ahead, but instead of turning south on Freya I turned North, and wound up somewhere near the Fairgrounds.
Yes. I am directionally-impaired.
When’s the last time you got lost?

Trying to follow a conservative’s logic. ;-)

A few nights ago trying to go from my house to the Holiday Station about 1/2 a mile away. Was trying to sneak through the back neighborhoods to avoid Highway 90. Drove round and round one subdivision back there until I could find my way out. LOL

A couple of weeks ago, the family and I were on vacation in Southern California. I got lost not two minutes from the airport when I turned right instead of left. Getting lost actually ended up being a real treat after I turned into the parking lot of an old familiar-looking building and realized it was my childhood church that I hadn’t seen in 35 years.
I got lost many other times during our trip, but Google Maps on my iPhone always saved me.

“Lost” sounds so final. I don’t believe I’ve been there.

I won’t be lost until sometime after May 2010.

I call getting lost an adventure! As a kid growing up we would load up the station wagon and try to get my Dad lost great memories

One bit of advice to those who are as directionally challenged as me —> GPS
I have a Garmin with a pleasant sounding woman with a British accent that tells me exactly where to go, turn for turn. It may not always be the fastest rout but it always gets me where I want to go and I don’t ever have to suffer the humiliation of stopping and asking for directions.

“a pleasant sounding woman with a British accent that tells me exactly where to go” That happened to me once too. But I didn’t like her destination.

@Poolman: The first time I got lost I was on the phone with an editor who google-mapped for me. He didn’t have an accent, but his calm voice made me feel better.
Yesterday, I called my husband who kept saying, “It should be right in front of you!” Not realizing I’d turned north instead of south.
If Santa’s reading this:Cindy wants a GPS. (However, I’d rather have a male voice tell me where to go. It’s what I’m used to.)

Yeah, I got lost in that Bermuda quadrangle south of Valleyford, west of Freeman, north of Mt. Hope, and east of Spangle. Dense fog and nighttime. Can’t remember for the life of me what I was doing out there. If I’d have had a compass, I think I wouldn’t have gotten lost. Seems like every road around there goes in one direction for a mile or two, then turns at least 90 degrees for a few miles.

Omigosh! I got lost there too. Years ago. Before everyone had cell phones. Have you ever tried to find a pay phone in Valleyford at 10 pm?
Horrors.
My friend and I kept driving. Saw a sign for Canada! Ended up in Opportunity.
Really, I shouldn’t be allowed outside my home without a guide and a month’s worth of provisions.
spokelooneh on December 02 at 7:44 p.m.
Yeah, that’s where I was headed, Cindy, Opportunity, aka a part of the Spokane Valley. I remember that some radio station around here used to say they were hailing form Opportunity, Spokane.
I ended up backtracking to Spangle and coming into town via 195, utterly defeated in my attempt to make a diagonal run towards the valley.

GPS….love it even if it drives us a little nuts when we go a route we are more familiar with in a area we know…. and it keeps saying…RECALCULATING…RECALCULATING… especially when we are going to Lewiston and it hasn’t caught up with the new part of the road. lol… my husband calls her Bertha.
