wow, an actual poignant cartoon from Signe, who would have expected it?
When did America (and Americans) get into the habit of not paying (via taxes or personal sacrifice) for its own wars - Reagan? Just curious. I’m was surprised to hear all those so called fiscal conservatives on the radio this morning, like Sen. Chamblis (R) from Georgia who has been so distressed lately about the deficit seeming not care about war costs - even when borrowed.

The last war we fought to keep our freedoms and liberties was World War II.
Since then we have lost thousands of men and women for some other cause.
Our men and women come home to unemployment, no or hard to get medical care. Their young minds are ambushed with the scene of death and destruction. And many of them kill themselves. Maybe it is time we take stock in America and stop the killing abroad.
We are straining the abilities of America to the breaking point.
Who will help us when we have fallen and cant get up? No one.
