Mary Seeks Funds For Brannon

Responding to a conspiracy theorist that compares Councilman Mike Kennedy to a Chicago machine politician (where do they find these guys?), Mary Souza of OpenCDA.com is seeking doughnations for Jim Brannon’s court challenge to the Coeur d’Alene elections. Writes Mary: “Anyone can donate by going to jimbrannon.com, where they can use the donate button to send money through the secure PayPal system. Or you can mail a check to Jim’s campaign Treasurer, Randy Bates at 1119 Ironwood Pky, #301, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.”

Question: If Judge John Mitchell ends up setting a significant bond, will this challenge go much further?

DFO - your question assumes that Starr Kelso will allow Judge Mitchell to continue to serve on this case without using his automatic disqualification.

But, yes, if there is a large cash bond requirement, I doubt it will go much further.

Will Jim Brannon have to report these donations under sunshine laws?

I’m guessing Mitchell will retain jurisdiction and send everyone to Cottonwood for a six-month boot camp.

Doesn’t the plaintiff only have 7 days to disqualify the judge?

Nic, you would assume that since he or Souza are asking for donations to be made to his election website that he would, however, I could be wrong. just sayin.

It seems as though Mary is very aware a bond will be set by a judge, Mitchell or no Mitchell. It will be interesting to see if some of the deeper pockets in the CAVE camp dig deep and come up with the cash.

My hunch is that this lawsuit will die the second a judge sets the bond amount.

“My hunch is that this lawsuit will die the second a judge sets the bond amount. “—hey, that was my hunch from days ago. ;-)

i’ve nebver known this group to “put up,” but I’d sure wouldn’t mind it if they “shut-up.”
