lack of morality or scruples or ethcis knows no party lines.

Keith. If, however, he were a republican, the dems would be all over this matter.
keithincda on December 05 at 8:37 a.m.
Of course they would be, like a kid eating birthday cake.
Phaedrus on December 05 at 8:43 a.m.
If, however, he were a republican, the dems would be all over this matter.
You mean like jumping all over Senator Ensign who cheated on his wife, got his parents to pay a bribe to his mistress, steered business to the husband of his mistress and hired the son of his mistress?
The victim mentality of the GOP is rather pathetic.
keithincda on December 05 at 8:50 a.m.
actually Pheadrus the elitist attitude of the liberal left dems is even more pathetic.
Phaedrus on December 05 at 8:54 a.m.
elitist attitude= buzz words

LOL but you Republicans are much more restrained. Now we have proof positive of his DINO qualifications as if we needed it. His HCR reform bill which sought to placate Republicans caused his favorables to tank in Montana in direct contrast to the other members of their congressional delegation.
He has years on his term. He could resign like Governor Spitzer did, immediately, but I don’t see that Baucus broke a law. Certainly its ethically questionable to nominate your girlfriend. But I don’t see where he’s a family values crusader and therefore a hypocrite. If he tries to ride the scandal out like outright law breakers Craig, Vitter and Ensign, well we know whose values he’s adopting. C’mon boys, defend their conduct.
hmoffsuite on December 05 at 10:46 a.m.
Sis >> “C’mon boys, defend their conduct”
Frankly, Sis, it is indefensible. All of it. Politicians, like some athletes and actors believe they are above reproach.

So much for standing up for the great institution of marriage…
If this is what marriage is… then maybe the gays will rethink about the word, union is sounding better all the time.
spokelooneh on December 05 at 4:37 p.m.
If Baucus had disclosed the relationship at the time he made the recommendation, he’d not have anything to answer for.
It seems odd that he would recommend her for a post that if she received it, she’d pretty much have to move back to Montana.
keithincda on December 05 at 5:48 p.m.
actually Sis, I say toss em all out. There is not a politician in Congress worth keeping around. I was not defending anyone nor will I for such lapses in their judgement.
With the tone of your post and that of Pheadrus, thanks to both of you for proving my point though regard to your (and you lefty friends) elitist attitudes. I mean for heavens sake as Sis you said it:
“I don’t see where he’s a family values crusader and therefore a hypocrite”.
Phaedrus on December 05 at 6:11 p.m.
I remember when elite was something positive— Elite Universities, Elite Fighting Forces—and going rogue was something undesirable—An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal. —but then conservatives started being offended by things that were considered of superior quality, smart, educated and above the norm. Thus the dumbing down of America continues.
keithincda on December 05 at 7:22 p.m.
Elite things like universities, specialized armed forces groups, those types of things are still elite Pheadrus. But elitist ATTITUDES have never been good. Ever.

Phaedrus - Do you work for the newspaper? I was just wondering … since you seem to know what is and isn’t a “buzz” word.
<<but i=”” don’t=”” see=”” where=”” he’s=”” a=”” family=”” values=”” crusader=”” and=”” therefore=”” a=”” hypocrite.=”“>> SIS said.
And you just gotta love Sis’ logic: unethical behavior is wrong … only when you had before-hand championed ethical behavior.
The sad thing is … this makes perfect sense to many liberals.
And there you have the one unifying “principle” of modern-day liberalism. “Don’t have principles to live by; therefore you can never be branded a hypocrite.” I believe that may have been a direct quote of bill Clinton, but I am not certain.
Hypocrisy is now the ultimate vice, as defined by Dems and media.
Phaedrus - You are conflating “elite” with “elitist.”
Brent Favre is an “elite” quarterback; you say things that are “elitist” - meaning you have a belief that you belong to a very “select” group of thinkers.
Funny how one fails to see the differences.
But the ALL-TIME BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY, the one that excuses bad behavior by comparing it other bad behavior is … .
“At least he’s not chasing young boys.” Yeah, I guess so. And at least he hasn’t shot and killed 4 police officers … making his behavior even LESS bad.
Whew!
Phaedrus on December 06 at 4:15 p.m.

richard, I don’t think I belong to a “select” group, just that many folks who spout their opinions are dumber than a box of rocks. That’s all. ;-)
Shark on December 06 at 8:47 p.m.
Richard - very well said. only one comment… you said “Funny how one fails to see the differences.” May have been more appropriate to start that comment with either “Sad” or “Tragic”
Arch_Druid on December 06 at 9:04 p.m.
Huh, and when Timothy McVeigh blew up a federal building “he wasn’t as bad” as abortion providers. “Richard,” your rants typically target “liberals.” However, “your side” has also excused plenty of bad behavior when that bad behavior fits an ideological agenda.
