After spending $310,000 in private donations to remodel and furnish the
governor’s mansion, a five-member panel is now investigating whether to unload
the vacant hilltop home. The Governor’s Housing Committee decided late Monday to
spend two months gathering information about the advantages of keeping the place
— or putting it on the market. There’s little parking, electricity bills are
exorbitant and the steep, narrow drive makes access tricky — especially when it
snows. And so far, no governor has ever lived there/AP. More
here.

Not to mention it is dog butt ugly and ostentatiously staged on a large manicured hill. Its symbolism is very un-democratic. I feel almost sad for Lori Otter having to diplomatically tip toe around those issues.
Its a white elephant and should have been dumped two years ago when the state could have recouped some value.
Are you kidding Sis? I’d love to live there. Granted the landscapping would be a pain in the rear. And I don’t care much for the Boise climate… but still.
You go girl. But I’m not even remotely kidding. I’m also to understand the gigantic flag is quite loud according to friends who live at the base of the hill. I’d much rather they rid the state of this dinosaur than fire one more employee or saddle our students with 20 year old books.

I think that the Governor should be required to live in the official Governor’s residence and give up any housing allowance that is provided.
I mean, the President must live in the White House when he’s elected, right?
