Laughing: ITD Board Pick Tokenism?

Item: 1st woman named to Idaho Transportation Board/Betsy Russell, Eye On Boise

More Info: I doubt if the Otter gives a wit about a lawsuit. It is the election, and this gives him a platform from which to argue in the election battles that he never did anything wrong regarding ‘that woman.’ He can say “see what I did here,” and march her out for photo ops.

Question: Does Laughing have a point — that Gov. Butch Otter may have tapped a woman for the ITD Board to deflect criticism that the state is being sued by ex-ITD Director Pam Lowe?

Yup. But its too late. The damage was done when they hired the new director without her input.

    Yes. And it’s quite transparent.

Take a look at Otter’s judicial appointments. Less than 5% have been women. I think that pretty much sums up his committment to gender equality.
