Sarah Palin autographed books at Fred Meyer in Coeur d’Alene this afternoon. (Kathy Plonka/SR)
OrangeTV:
I’m okay with all the coverage. I like celebrity gossip. She’s irritating in a somewhat enjoyable way. At least it’s always a good time making fun of her and her supporters. She needs a makeover though, her look is stale. A blond Kate Gosselin hairstyle might do the trick. She should consider a reality show for her next cash-in gig. I’d watch it.
Question: Do you agree w/OrangeTV — that Sarah Palin needs a makeover? Or at least a somewhat different look? You be the fashion guide. What would you advise to change Sarah Palin’s look?
scootermom on December 10 at 3:39 p.m.
I’m not a fan of Sara Palin, but why the obsession with her looks? I don’t hear any calls for any male politicians to “freshen” their appearance. Although, admittedly, some of them could really use it. Are you listening Butch?
Cindy_H on December 10 at 3:40 p.m.
Amen, scootermom. Amen.
poolman on December 10 at 3:43 p.m.
OTV - you are kidding right - Kate Gosselin’s hair style is insultingly bad. I thought that look died shortly after the Flock of Seagulls craze.
tarynahecker on December 10 at 3:43 p.m.
When’s the last time OTV had a makeover?
I think his constant bashing of Sarah Palin is stale.
OrangeTV on December 10 at 3:49 p.m.
I agree, scootermom. I always thought Obama should grow out his afro real nice and big and that Bush could’ve used an eyebrow tweeze or two.
Anyway, my original comment was mainly just snark. In reality, I have to say that, Palin does actually look very nice and well-presented and her look works well for her. She is far less dowdy than some female politicos, but she’s got nothing on Michelle Obama or even Condoleeza Rice with her $2000 Ferragamo shoes. Remember that flap last fall about the RNC paying $150,000 for her wardrobe and she said she would rather shop at Sears or whatever? With her book sales through the roof she should at least be able to upgrade to Fashion Bug…
OrangeTV on December 10 at 3:52 p.m.
Taryn, I’ll have you know I spent 9 hours at Regis getting a $200 weave! Anyway, I wasn’t bashing in the traditional sense (like hmo does with Obama for example), just poking fun. I think I’ve said some comparatively nice things about her…
OrangeTV on December 10 at 3:53 p.m.
It seems everybody’s sarcasm detector is off a few notches today.
eagleeye on December 10 at 3:55 p.m.
I actually think that Sarah is smokin hot ! I have no complaints about her looks. But OTV isnt stale. I think he is a pretty sharp guy!
hmoffsuite on December 10 at 3:57 p.m.
Otv. Fair comments. Btw, I thought the best post of the day came from your ‘boyzenberries’ post. I like it.
Lizard_People on December 10 at 4:49 p.m.
Sarah Palin IS her look. People aren’t drawn to her deep insight. In fact, if anything, ordinary people are drawn to her LACK of insight.
“She doesn’t know anything, and I don’t know anything either!! She’s just like me! I identify with her so much!! I LOVE her!! boo-hoo!”
On the other hand, Obama is also just an empty vessel into which millions of guilt ridden liberals poured their audiciously poured their hopes and dreams.
Identity politics for the TV generation.
Cindy_H on December 10 at 5:51 p.m.
While much has been made of Palin’s “hotness” factor, I find it interesting that most of the people in the photos I’ve seen thus far are women.
Even more facinating, Palin’s harshest critics on this blog have been women.
Hmm…
Stickman on December 10 at 5:57 p.m.
I think she looks fine. Do you and I need a makeover to make us more appealing, I doubt it.
hmoffsuite on December 10 at 5:57 p.m.
Cindy. I’ve never known a woman to be a petty envious type. Have you?

How do you know I’m not a lady? How do you know I’m not an army of upset paleocons??!?!
Stickman on December 10 at 6:11 p.m.
Thanks keith, well said.
Cindy_H on December 10 at 6:24 p.m.
Keith, good point. But JeanieSpokane, Sue, and several others whose names I can’t reveal due to our outting policy have also been very vocal in their disdain for Palin.
As for your list…well… let’s just say you can’t assume they’re all..uh..men.
That’s all I’m saying.
Phaedrus on December 10 at 7:18 p.m.
I think CindyH meant to say “Palin’s harshest critics on this blog have been smart people.” ;-)
spokelooneh on December 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Could be that Palin has upset an army of ordinary hipsters, male and female.
In the interest of saving pixels and therefore energy, I’ve boiled down my opinion of Palin to two words.
Rapid Vapidity.
sue on December 10 at 7:41 p.m.
Perhaps Cindy will remember that I was also a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, so I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make? If Palin is the unbama, she is most definitely the un-Hillary. Sorry, but I was simply appalled when she came on the scene, and i still am. Her lack of depth, awareness, iinsight, and intelligence is apparent, yet people look past that at some other attraction. I cannot for the life of me understand her appeal to anyone for any job, let alone the most important job on the planet. I question her supporter’s intellligence and good sense.
keithincda on December 10 at 8:01 p.m.
Sue>>I question her supporter’s intellligence and good sense.”
Typical liberal attitude, heaven forbid someone might think different than you. I feel the same way about Hillary that you do about Palin (and I’ not saying I like Palin) but I understand that we have differences and I am ok with that. Sorry you’re not.
keithincda on December 10 at 8:04 p.m.

Uh folks, I put a disclaimer between those parenthesis’s in my above comment.
Me on December 10 at 8:12 p.m.
Sue - so glad you mentioned Hillary - word for word I feel the same as you said about Palin. And there are even a couple more - Boxer and Pelosi!!! See we do have something in common!!!
Clinton, Pelosi, Boxer……
Their lack of depth, awareness, iinsight, and intelligence is apparent, yet people look past that at some other attraction. I cannot for the life of me understand their appeal to anyone for any job, let alone some of the most important jobs on the planet. I question their supporter’s intellligence and good sense.

Hucksters, snake-oil salesman, Revivalists, and con-men have been fleecing the sheeple for decades. Grifters like Palin are part of a LONG (though not proud) tradition.

Amen Spoke - they are alive and well and in DC as we speak! (Oh and lots of them in Copenhagen this week!!!)

Need for a makeover? No, she needs educated.

“depth,” “awareness,” “insight,” “intelligence” –-
I would be very curious to hear Sue define these qualities and how it is that she feels she is qualified to quantify those qualities in Sarah Palin, when she probably knows little about Sarah Palin … other than what she has read and heard from others … and consequently mimiced.
And while she is at it, maybe she could list all the accomplishments of Barack Obama in government which would reveal his “awareness” and “depth” and “insight.” Can you do that Sue? Without merely listing liberal viewpoints which you share with him?
I think that is why the “oh-so” progressives put so much weight in nebulus qualties such “depth,” “awarenaess,” etc. It sounds good, it leaves an impression of elitism and it really can’t be quantified.
What Sue is really saying is that Obama has much “depth” in liberal beliefs and great “awareness” of Progressive “solutions” … and Palin doesn’t.
Isn’t that really what you are saying Sue?
And isn’t it a very gratutious put-down to stereotype Palin supporters that way; or any supporters for that matter. Sounds a bit judgmental as well. How come it is when conservatives stereotype, they are … prejudiced? When progressives do it … they are “insightful”?
Just wondering.
spokelooneh on December 10 at 10:03 p.m.
Palin needs education?
How can that be? The taxpayers of the state of Idaho provided her with a FINE education. Just because she decided to stiff the state on that practically free to her UI education by moving away to the even dumber taxpayers in the welfare state of Alaska should not be held against her.
richard on December 10 at 10:05 p.m.
Loone - great work. You do your job very, very well.
Don_Sausser on December 10 at 10:34 p.m.
Spoke - “Palin needs education?”
Wow, you are really on a roll tonight! Your judgemental, ego building arm must be sore from patting yourself on the back so often :=)
spokelooneh on December 10 at 10:50 p.m.
Don, as a person of note in the NIC educational community, surely you understand one of the reasons why the state or local government has supported publicly-funded secondary education, dating back to Thomas Jefferson’s establishment of the University of Virginia, right?
Because there’s a PAYBACK to the state based on the higher salaries and therefore higher income taxes (or other) that the state receives back (over time) from that state or local government supported University (or college) graduate.
(Not to mention the societal social benefit).
wheels on December 11 at 6:39 a.m.
I may find Ms Palin fairly inept as a politician(except for being the CEO of Alaska, but how hard could that be)but she is very easy to look at.She captivated people in CDA no doubt about that.
TALKJOC on December 11 at 7:54 a.m.
Simple fact….Palin’s hot while most men in Congress need a face-lift. Come on gang… Let’s move on to the important things in life…like College basketball and will the Mariners get some Big Boppers for the middle of the line-up.
Arch_Druid on December 11 at 8:24 a.m.
Yeah, the CDA Press sez that Palin captivated the people of CDA. Can I declare myself a critic of Palin? Has nothing to do with she looks much better than this 55 year old individual. Has absolutely nothing to do with envy. I had my fill of her back in 2008 as to her new left politics and who is part of the “real America,” bigoted garbage. If you didn’t vote for her and Senator McCain, you couldn’t be a “real American.” Then she goes on to make political her son serving this country in a time of war. Well, there’s nothing wrong with that. But what is the distinction between military veterans who DO NOT vote for her, who DO NOT intend to buy her book, and who don’t care what she does with the rest of her life? We aren’t “real Americans?” As opposed to people who got frost bit over night so that they could stand in line for a book and a signature? I have better things to do. And more important things to spend my limited pay check on. Good riddance Palin.
Lizard_People on December 11 at 8:39 a.m.
I predict this is all moot. There’s no way Palin is going to run for president. Aside from the fact that Levi probably does have some pretty jaw dropping revelations yet, Palin could never stand toe-to-toe with actually accomplished republicans in a primary setting. And she knows it.
She’s just pretending so she can keep current.
Conservative HBD (human biodiverisity) blogger Half-Sigma writes alot about Sarah Palin and her average intellect.
