Sarah Palin: Go Vandals — 12.14.09

This one’s for Idaho Dad and any other Merry Huckster who might want to see former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in a University of Idaho sweatshirt. Photographer Paula Marchinko provided it from the Palin book signing in Sandpoint last week for Trish Gannon’s new blog, Raspberries, here.

But we were devastated the next day with the news that Lee Shellman, a longtime resident, Republican activist, and unsung hero for Hayden Lake had passed away. Shellman, who was an active force behind the Hayden Lake Watershed Association, would have been the obvious leader to take advantage of this momentum and help lead the charge. We are enormously saddened by the loss. The job will be so much more difficult without him/Terry Harris, KEA Blog. More here.

I’m curious: Did Sarah Palin the Vandal booster happen to stop by her alma mater during her recent book signing tour of northern Idaho? If not, why not? Is it because there are bunch of nasty liberals living there and she wouldn’t receive a hero’s welcome? Like I said, just curious.

If the snarky remark were serious, which I doubt, and if the same snarky person is a student, which I doubt, he/she as an educated person, or at least semi-educated, would through some very shallow research have concluded that the entire tour including the stops and publicity were arranged and controlled by the publisher, not the principle. Grow up, Jr.

In all seriousness, if Palin were a true Vandal, why not return to campus? There have been all sorts of diversions along the way — Thanksgiving turkey trot with relatives in the Tri-Cities, any one?

So are you suggesting, Herbert, that her handlers (publishers) weren’t allowing her to freelance? Hmmm. Sounds like the presidential campaign all over again.
