Adam: Allred Could Be Next Guv

Keith Allred has announced as the Democratic Candidate for Governor in 2010. I think that Allred has a good chance of being our State’s next Governor, but only if this is the start of a five-year campaign, not a one-year campaign. If 2010 were shaping up to simply be an “anti-incumbent” year, I’d say Allred would have a slight chance in 2010 against Governor Otter, but it’s not shaping up that way. It’s really looking like an anti-Democrat year, and in idaho having the same party as President Obama isn’t going to get you elected/Adam Graham, Give Me Liberty. More here.

Question: Do you see 2010 shaping up to be an anti-Democrat year in politics?

Question: Do you see 2010 shaping up to be an anti-Democrat year in politics?

    That would be my guess.

Nope, I don’t see it that way

Depends on if Dems give the public a reason to come out. This poll suggests the lack of a public option in HCR might doom them.

Sis. I think that Obama had created such high expectations that, come time for the next election, the dems will lose many a voter. Dems and independents alike.

The birth of the Tea party purity demanding Republicans will split the party down the middle through and through in my mind. It just might be an anti Dem year but the opposing parties are split just so to make the year an easy win for most Dems who are middle of the road.

With respect to the Idaho Democrat Party, it’s been so long since they’ve been able to take advantage of any dynamics that might be in their favor, that I simply have no faith in them. Keith Allred has never held elective office in Idaho. He stands no chance whatsoever. Yet, at the same time, I also think Butch has vulnerabilities in the Republican base and with some independents.

Nationally, it does appear that the Democrats are in trouble.

    Toadman’s double?

My guess is that it depends on the economy, nationally. As ever. (Unless one or another war heats up enough to make us all patriotic again.)

In Idaho, the persistence of faith-based belief systems suggests that Republicans will do better than they deserve to, regardless. Our recent history is almost all about the letter in parentheses, not about the quality of the candidate.

Keith Allred is an excellent Democratic candidate for Governor. Not only will he offer an excellent contrast to Otter, but it’ll be tough to hang the “liberal” label on him—not that it’ll stop the GOP from trying.

My major concern with him is whether or not he’ll have the stomach for the nasty side of partisan politics, particularly those employed by the Semanko faction.

The Dems will lose a few seats in 2010. However, I’d bet the under.

As disappointing as Otter has been in some respects, I think the only way he’ll leave office before he retires is if he’s caught with a dead girl or a live boy. He’s ruffled a few feathers, irritated a few people, but hasn’t really screwed up majorly, either. The main disappointment is that the “maverick” (to use a political cliche) firebrand Legislator and Congressman has turned out to be pretty much a run of the mill “establishment” Governor.

The voters who re-elected Kempthorne, the consummate slick, egotistical, professional politician, over an arguably strong Dem challenger, will have no problem voting for “Good Ol’ Butch,” who can at least play the part of the “cowboy populist” when he wants to.

Uh, I believe that Butch has already been “caught” with a dead girl, like back in the Seventies. Of course, no charges were ever filed. I think it was a drowning in a bathtub.
