Recognizing an opportunity to take up a new hobby and make a few bucks, rockabilly music fan
Chester D. Adkins set up some recording gear in a small space in the back of his wife’s downtown Coeur d’Alene record shop. Genevieve Adkins had opened Souvenir Records at 215 Sherman Avenue a few years earlier but eventually relocated to a larger space across the street in the plaza of the Greyhound bus station, where the 3rd and Sherman entrance of the Resort Shops now sits, giving Chester some space to tinker around with his new recording toys. My mother has vivid memories of the store, recalling that she bought her first record album there as a teenager; Elvis Presley, of course/OrangeTV, Get Out! North Idaho. More here.
Question: Do you own any vinyls, er, record albums?

Yes, I own at least a few hundred and have been carting them around with me for over 30+ years.

I picked up a few records last weekend from the St. Vincent store in Post Falls. My picks were: bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits, two by Dave Brubeck and a Stan Getz. I love jazz, and when you can find records for $0.50 that would retail at a specialty music shop for $5 dollars, it is a steal.

Not since I lost 200 albums because of a failed sump pump. :-(

I still have that Brubeck album with “Take Five” on it, along with some irreplaceable bluegrass albums that weren’t main stream enough to have been digitalized. I’d like to find an inespensive way of converting them to cd. Somehow I also ended up with some classical albums. It is still strange when you open a 78rpm album and the recording is on 6 records. Oh, did I memtion I have 78’s? The era that I don’t have any from was th 45rpm’s. I guess I figured they would be around for ever and didn’t collect them.

I actually own a Souvenir record, with the CDA address proudly printed on the label. And, I have too much vinyl. I’m transferring records I’m gonna give away onto CD. I found a John Coltrane jazz LP recently, which will stay in my collection. The records I’m keeping are important to me for one reason or another. I’m working on my 3rd big box of LP’s I’m givin’ away.
