Philadelphia Phillies’ Cliff Lee pitches to the New York Yankees during the fifth inning of Game 1 of the Major League Baseball World Series on Oct. 28 in New York. Lee, a Cy Young Award winner, reportedly will be traded to the Seattle Mariners shortly which would give the Mariners a dominate one-two punch at the top of their pitching rotation with Felix Hernandez and Lee. Question: Are you a fan of the Seattle Mariners and excited about this likely trade?

Yes and yes. The only downside to the trade is that Seattle is giving up young talent to rent Lee for a year, but it may be that the Ms feel they can contend in the AL West in 2010. We’ll have the best 1-2 punch in baseball with King Felix and Lee at the top of the rotation. And if Lee leaves for free agency at the end of 2010, the Ms will most likely receive two top draft picks in compensation.
When I watched Lee pitch in the 2009 post-season, I was sure Jamie Moyer had had a great influence on him. Lee doesn’t have overwhelming stuff, but like Moyer in his prime, he changes speeds and location just enough to keep hitters off balance. I look forward to seeing Lee pitch every five days.

Yeah, I’m a little excited. However, with the Mariners, you just can’t get too excited because you always end up disappointed :(
