Few Bad Wrecks So Far Today

Item: Drivers doing OK, officers say: Few bad wrecks in icy morning commute/Mike Prager, SR

More Info: Motorists this morning appeared to be negotiating the moderate snow accumulations and slippery conditions without a large number of accidents. Slideoffs and stuck vehicles were reported, but only six damaging collisions were reported to law enforcement in Spokane County between 4 and 7:45 a.m., but additional collisions were occurring as the morning commute continued. A dispatcher in Kootenai County said no accidents were reported there.

Question: Do you change you driving habits very much when the first snow hits?

Very much so. I definitely go slower than normal and give other drivers much more room.

Yes. I slow down a lot earlier at intersections and come to complete stops before making turns. Plus, if the car in front of me has California or Arizona plates, I give them a lot of extra room.

I have a different route I take - avoid the freeway. As with Stickman and Shannon - I drive much slower.

Here it is, 10:47, and I just realized that I DON’T CARE that it snowed. I don’t have a job to drive to in the snow. Hallelujah! Always look at the bright side of things, I always say. :)
