Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has proclaimed Thursday will be “Vernon J. Baker Day,” in honor of the St. Maries resident who is the only living African-American Medal of Honor recipient from World War II. Read more.

    I would love to meet Vernon, hopefully that might come true this year. I would also love to give him one of my very prized sticks, that would make my year.
