I know some get bonuses..ranging from $25 to maybe up to a thousand or so. Some of us …
got a turkey. For 10 years we use to get a turkey. We referred to it as a glove box turkey, as they were so small. About 10 pounds or less. The last couple of years that I worked we had a new owner, and we got a $25 gift card for Wal-Mart. Which was listed on our payroll statement as a gift and then the taxes were deducted for it. Meaning we got $22. Most of us where ok with the turkey or the gift card, until we found out that our boss got $500 or more/Cis, From A Simple Mind. More here.
Question: What kind of Christmas bonus do you get?

I remember the first year I worked at a law firm, I billed about 2100 hours, almost all of which was billed and paid, thanks to one extremely large and busy client. For my Christmas bonus, I got a bottle of liquor (vodka). Drink up, brother!!!!!

The sweet voices of children wishing me Merry Christmas as they leave the school for winter break.

Uhh, I get the day off work?

I get paid to stay home. But that’s the same bonus I get on Thanksgiving, Labor day. Memorial Day…

In 35 years of working for the Federal government I got no christmas bonuses.

None for us this year - first time in a very long time, but understandable. I’m very thankful to have my job and that our company has no debt - we are able to hang in there. We do have 401k match, which I still think of as a bonus every pay day.

The following week after I was let go for “budget cuts” and the “recession”, bonuses were handed out - but to a select few. I’m glad I wasn’t there for the exclusion.

I’ve almost always worked for the government, so I’m just told that I make too much anyway. Christmas bonuses? Out of the question.

I agree with Holly as to getting a day off work—unpaid. Otherwise, WHAT bonus?
moscow_minidoka on December 18 at 8:27 a.m.
Working in Seattle I got a very nice bonus each Christmas - it was an extra paycheck, and it always came in handy.
Back here in Idaho, I’ve never received a Christmas bonus, but that’s because in Idaho I’ve never worked for a company or agency that did such things.
Thinking of Christmas bonuses always reminds me of Christmas Vacation, and how Clark flips out when he doesn’t get his. People should put that movie in their holiday rotation this year if they haven’t seen it in a while… I’m sure many could identify with his reaction this year.

$30 gift card to the local grocer. Between my wife and I, we have the same employer, we have 60 extra bucks for groceries this month. Nice. I am very lucky to have my profession and even more blessed to work in a hospital that is so budget conscious, but without losing the hometown patient care aspect.

I’m not complaining because I get a 25 dollar gift for a local grocery store.I work for one of the biggest employers of the area and very thankful for it and my job! I love what I do and thank god everyday for the job I have so anything extra is def a bonus!

hmm… don’t know. The last few years the firm I’ve been clerking at has given me a couple hundred bucks or so, but now that I’m an contract attorney with them I’m not sure if it will go up (or down). We’ll see.
