Sergeants Christie Wood and Bill Tilson of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department try to make friends with a leery young boy at the annual foster family Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at Post Falls High School. Officers brought donations of stuffed animals and blankets, but spent time circulating among the children, many of whom have had negative experiences with police officers when they were removed from their birth families. About 280 foster children in North Idaho attended a party and received gifts at the party organized by staff from Idaho Health and Welfare.
