Today, we mourn one more stake in the heart of Bayview. Losing hundreds of dollars per month trying to stay open during the slow months, the Captain’s Wheel is throwing in the towel for, at least the next two months. The last days of this drama will play out after January 3, when the lights will dim over the most stable full service restaurant & bar that has existed since 1996. The possibly last hurrah of the ‘Wheel will be New Years Eve, with the ever popular, “The Keep” playing for your listening pleasure/Herb Huseland, Bay Views. More here.

Bummer.
Is Bob Holland going to gobble it up like he’s done to so much other Bayview property?

I don’t think he has any loose cash left. Possibly Chan might. Who knows? Maybe the present ownership can settle down and bring the place back but no matter what they do, the economy is still stagnant and Bayview is off the beaten path, at least during winter. The roads into Bayview are kept plowed and sanded throughout the winter, but most people hunker down during cold weather.

Not too long ago, I heard one of the owners (Mike McFarland) say that the place was doing quite well - but, if this economy is anything, it’s not stable…
