If Idaho lawmakers greatly reduce or eliminate funding for the arts or government-funded television, I’ll be convinced that they’re serious about not only getting state spending under control but also rebalancing the proper role of government/Wayne Hoffman, Idaho Freedom Foundation. Question: Should Idaho cut funding for the arts and public television to help balance its budget?

“Should Idaho cut funding for the arts and public television to help balance its budget”
A better question is
“Should Idaho have ever started funding the arts and public television?”
Or
“Is funding for the arts and public television a proper function of government?”

I happen to be one of those who thinks supporting arts including public TV is a good use of of government funds. Please notice I said “supporting,” not “providing.”
Of course, I’m also one of those odd people who think that “getting a job” is not the only purpose of education.

Count me in on that one, florined. History and a good understanding of government is needed (and sadly lacking) in order to assure our country survives it’s own inept social experiments binge.

No government should just fund prisons. Nothing else. Ok, mebbe the development of shooting ranges too, but that’s it.

from the story by the freedom foundation
“During the last legislative session, lawmakers put the cystic fibrosis program on the chopping block because, some lawmakers concluded, they couldn’t keep spending $205,000 for the adult patients in the program.”
Yet we spend $1.6 million on TV?
Ever wonder if it is because more people would be pissed at the Democrats if they allowed funding for TV to be cut off than if they allow funding for cictic fibrosis to be cut?
Yep, TV is clearly more important, right?

Did you even read the rebuttal piece Larry?
If you only have one side of an issue and then twist the facts, well, it can come out like you stated, or like this:
Some in Idaho want to cut off our ability to receive television while spending tax money on a disease already covered by other private programs.
Get real.
