Filmed several years ago in and around Coeur d’Alene, the film “Teenage Dirtbag” was released on DVD in October, and can be found online and at some local video outlets. The plot will appeal to the angst-ridden teen lurking inside everyone on your shopping list. It’s an enjoyably dark drama that tells a tale of unrequited love between a Coeur d’Alene High cheerleader and an antagonistic stoner dude. Writer-Director Regina Crosby, it’s based the story on her own experiences at CHS in the late 80s, and it’s a slow-burner of a flick that will get under your skin and provoke an emotional response much deeper than you might originally suspect. Plus, it’s fun to check out all the familiar local landmarks that pop up in the background of many shots/OrangeTV, Get Out! North Idaho. More here.
Question: A DVD of “Teenage Dirtbag” is one of OTV’s gift possibilities ‘with a bit of North Idaho flair.” Also, he has listed others. What would you suggest as a gift possibility this Christmas that has roots in the Inland Northwest?

I bought a gift book called “Upstairs Women of the Pacific Northwest”. It’s a history of the region’s prostitution.
I got it at Fred Meyer, and it was located right next to the “Going Rogue” display.

Don’t forget the movie “Smoke Signals,” written by Sherman Alexie and partially filmed on the Rez.

Costco has a book on the history of Farragut Naval Training Station. I’ve sent relatives gift packs of Coeur d’Alene Olive Oil in the past. My Boston relatives enjoyed a gift pack of Idaho potatoes and they’ve also enjoyed the Idaho Spud candy bars (although I personally think they taste gross). There are the “I’m a Real Athol Without My Coffee” coffee cups that are always a hit.

Any Bert Russell book. I bought them on the advice of my daughter’s 4th grade teacher, when I first came to this area. Priceless.
