A family traveling from North Dakota to Western Washington awoke this morning to find their pickup and rented moving trailer stolen from a Spokane Valley motel parking lot. Dewey and Sharon Brown and their 7-year-old daughter were headed to McChord Air Force Base, where he’s scheduled to fly to Korea for a year-long military assignment after the family gets settled. The Browns were due in Tacoma today but are staying in town in hopes of finding the pickup and rented U-Haul trailer missing this morning from La Quinta Suites, 3800 N. Sullivan Road/Meghann M. Cuniff, SR. More here.

This past weekend I flew down to LA and moved my son, his wife and my 3 grandkids back to Seattle as he had finished up his graduate studies at UCLA.
We left LA at 3AM on Friday morning and I worried all night that night and the next night (Friday) in Medford at a hotel as the moving van sat outside with all of their worldly possessions. I worried and worried and worried that someone would break into it or steal it based on the story in Spokane from this past summer. Fortunately we made it without any problems.

Our van was stolen while we attended a Christmas party in Coeur d’Alene about 6 years ago. Good thing we decided to go home and empty the Christmas presents out of the van before going to the party… what wqas weird is that our ford windstar minivan was parked between a Jaguar and a BMW, but they took our van. They found it on Christmas Eve. It was completely totalled in a small stand of trees on Cherry Hill…

It’s amazing how unphased that family seems in the photo. Awesome. And that little girl is adorable. I wanna go buy her an entire Jenna family right now. :)
