A Spokane man has filed a $500,000 lawsuit against the state of Idaho for injuries he says resulted from a crash caused by potholes on Interstate 90 in North Idaho.
Kasey Crick, 22, filed the lawsuit Dec. 18 after the state denied any wrongdoing in response to a tort claim he had filed following the Dec. 28, 2007, accident.
According to court files obtained by the Coeur d’Alene Press, Crick was a passenger in a vehicle pulling a trailer when the trailer came dislodged after running over potholes in the westbound lane just west of Coeur d’Alene. Read more.

I am in Spokane this week, and I travel up here from Boise all the time. Roads everywhere up here are crazy bumpy. There are gravel roads in southern Idaho that are much smoother than the thoroughfares in Spokane. Potholes on freeways are unacceptable.

JamesBond. The pot holes and roads in Spokane are are as bad as they get anywhere. Largely due to a horribly mismanaged City for many years. Driving in Spokane is like playing a video game.

Do people in Spokane just accept it? I lived here for 3 years and have been coming here a lot all of my life. They are quite simply the crapiest roads I’ve ever encountered in my life. I know a lot of people seem to know this, but nothing ever changes. Unreal.

JamesBond. Actually, people do get used to it and don’t even know how bad it is. I drive some in Spokane during the summer and then head south for the winter. When I get to Scottsdale, I then ‘notice’ I don’t have to be on the constant lookout for potholes. Like I said above, driving there is a duck and dodge video game.

It’s pothole alley down here with a few potential craters blooming in my only access to the highway leads into town. So I’ll be paying attention to this story. Depending how it turns out, maybe I’ll have an accident and sue the state of Oregon!
