“A friend of mine is flying from NYC to Edmonton and reports the following: “I’m disheartened though not surprised at new regulations that require we spend the entire flight from NYC to Toronto, and the last hour from Toronto to Edmonton, in our seats, without anything in our laps, not even a book; nor of being allowed to the bathroom only with escort; and to have our one carry-on bag each in the overhead compartment unavailable to us.”
Wow, not even a book? And now flight attendants will be spending the entire flight escorting people to the bathroom?
Do you feel safer?”
So, maybe I’ll take the train to Portland. How’s train travel these days?

Take the plane Cindy unles you want the board the train at 1 a.m. in the morning and ride for 5 hours… a flight to portland is only about an hour… you can hold it that long

According to CBS the TSA has was losening up these requirements, and leaving it up to the flight’s captain.

If I was fllying those rules would not make me feel safer. The key is to prevent the terrorist from getting on the plane in the first place. If someone has evil intent making him/her stay in their seat and taking away their book and blanket is not going to stop them.

I thought removing our shoes, and not allowing liquids over a certain amount, was supposed to make us all safer, and make sure no one could ever try to smuggle explosives aboard again…
Of course, maybe actually LISTENING to credible sources (suspect’s father, apparently a respected foreign official), and not letting suspected terrorists on planes, might help too.
